Xena was my main idol growing up, and to her I am eternally grateful. The 90s were a great time for awesome female characters on TV. I've been rewatching Xena on Netflix, and it's striking how many female characters there were on that show. In some episodes, the entire billed cast was women! Why hasn't this become the norm rather than the exception? Pop culture today still lacks a fair amount of complex female characters. Of all kinds. We are neither simply good or bad, weak or strong. We are human.
