Wedding Portrait Drawing

It was such an honor to be asked to draw this lovely couple's special day! The gorgeous Thailand scenery presented a fun opportunity to try out a new approach, and I really enjoyed the challenge of creating representational forms with broad strokes. I've always liked those landscape drawings where it's fairly loose in visual style but still very realistic.

I kept the couple as pencil drawings with charcoal accents, while creating the background with pastel. This ended up creating an interesting balance between the two mediums which I really liked. It kept the pastel from getting too heavy and the pencil from being too washed out.

If you're interested in commissioning your own family portrait artwork, you can find some options here! These make for some very special, one-of-a-kind gifts!
